Arthur Eric Rowton Gill one of the famous typeface designers of his time designed the Gill Sans Font. It was published by the British corporation of Monotype in 1928. This font was designed to improve the design of the font already present named Underground Alphabe.

Underground Alphabe was designed by Edward Johnston released in 1916. In underground Alphabe lots of improvement will be needed. So Eric started working to make the perfect font. He is a specialist in typeface designing. Later, one of his friends Stanley Morison also contributed to making this font family perfect.
